''I Carried A Watermelon'' - World Water Week
I am lugging a watermelon around with me everywhere during world water week (31st August to 5th September) in order to raise money and awareness for the 748 million people on this planet who don't have access to safe water. My consciousness surrounding this issue was awakened after performing in the musical 'Urinetown' and realizing that water shortage could be a reality for all of us in the not too distant future. All of the money raised will go specifically to WaterAid's 'To Be A Girl' campaign, which aims to prevent young girls from having to carry heavy pots of dirty water for several hours every day just in order to survive. Carrying this melon for a week will only give me a minute insight into what these girls have to do daily but I do hope you will give generously to this excellent and very worthy cause.
Progress Day 3...
''So... the unthinkable has happened. On my way to bed, Gregory fell out of my rucksack and cracked himself open. Check out the bandage job I've done. Really hope he lasts til the weekend...'' Marc
